Holiday 2010

Christmas 2010 actually felt like Christmas (as opposed to Christmas 2009 where we were in a brand new city sitting in an unpacked apartment with a 13 week old puppy)! Chris's parents flew in from the UK and we were SOO lucky that they actually got here. England got hit with a major snow storm and their flight was the only one that wasn't cancelled. So after my 2 weeks of 2 weddings I had one day in between to prep our lovely 1 bedroom apartment for 4 people to be living there. Lucky for me, Chris had done all the cleaning, so I just had to change the sheets and get the air mattress (we slept on this and gave the bed to the in-laws). Here are some pictures to document their super fun visit! We like to keep people on their toes, so we had quite the active 10 days!

We started them out with some hiking and sledding at Colby College. The snow was so deep it was a serious work out.

That's my 62 year old father in law being rocketed down the hill by Chris (and about to be eaten alive by Cooper; we learned the hard way someone had to hold him while others were sledding)

Then we took Alan skiing. In a blizzard. I mentioned he was 62, right? Well this was his first time skiing ever. The weather was TERRIBLE and the snow was so deep, but he did it! He does hold the record for amount of falls on the beginner's slope though.

This was poor Alan after his half day of intense skiing.

This is one of Colby College's hiking trails. The family went out for a nice hike on Christmas morning after presents. It was nice to come home to the smell of turkey roasting in the oven.

Speaking of turkey. This is me and the MIL temping the turkey and shaking the roasties. Roasties (roasted potatoes) are probably my most enjoyed English holiday tradition.

Chris and Lindsay stopped by on their way back from Chris's dad's house. It was so good to see you guys. We miss you!

For NYE we spent 2 nights in Boston. We stayed in the Hilton Back Bay, and we got a killer deal. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat, but unfortunately the hotel is back up to it's original price of $285 per night. no thank you. This picture is outside Quincy Market and the Hard Rock Cafe. Chris's parents collect HRC gear from all over the world, and since Boston is one of the original 5, we had to hit it up. We had a great meal, and I had the best "adult" beverage of my life.

The next day we opted for a cheese and chocolate fondue around lunch time. We thought it would be something fun for the in-laws to experience, and they loved it.

After our dessert fondue and during our food coma. I think we were trying to put off going back out into the freezing cold.

"Did I mention I love cities?" I think I heard Chris say that around 30 times. I do love Boston though. It's one of my favorite cities. It's clean, I don't feel like I'm going to get stabbed, you can walk everywhere, great shopping, a nice theater district, on the coast, I could go on...

This was New Year's Eve. It was soo cold, and poor Chris was sick. We went back to the hotel to put on more layers at about 11:30pm, and his parents had to convince us to go back out. I know, we're not nearly as exciting as we used to be. We accept it.

Snuggling for body heat. 10 minutes to go until 2011!

I'm glad we did go back. There was a fun European rave going on in the streets with thousands of people dancing and yelling. They even had fancy flashing lights, an ADD kid's dream.

30 seconds until we can get in bed!

Aww let's be cliche and kiss, and then pollute my blog with it.

Happy 2011 to all!
