On Self Esteem

I was reading about a group (I can't remember where) that got young men and women together and had them write up notecards with random compliments and scatter them around the city.  It was a really cute idea, and one of the quotes from the presentation stuck with me.  They said, "instead of trying to change the way we look, let's try and change the way we see."

So for just a day, or a week if you can bear it, put the magnifying mirrors and ruthless scale away.  Stop pinching your rolls and picking your face.  Let your frizzy hair fly and your crooked teeth smile.  You're the only one who notices that stuff anyway.

I'll kick this off with the things that I like about myself:

1. my blue eyes.
2. that I haven't had a carbonated nor caffeinated beverage in 2 months.
3. that my arm hair is unnoticeable
4. the versatility of my hair.
5. that no matter how long I go without running, I can still run 3 miles.
6. that I can do military push ups and a lot of them.
7. that my resting heart rate and blood pressure are low.
8. my long legs.
9. my (ahem) modest-sized chest.
10. that I have good balance.

Hooray for liking myself.  Now you should try it too!
