Nursing School 4

Remember that one time I got to the hospital at 5:50am and stayed until 11:30pm?

when I had the tiniest little patient with the tiniest little buttcheeks and I made two adults hold her down while I gave her an enema?

when she sat on the toilet with tears streaming down her face, staring straight into my eyes, and saying "my belly. my belly. YOUR spray hurted me, Miss Juhnae."

not THE spray.  YOUR spray.  I traumatize children.

Remember when I wiped her bottom and she thanked me for it?

when her mom asked her if she could step out for a minute and she said only if I stayed with her?

when I let her press all the bed buttons/ ride it up and down 2 million times because I felt guilty for hurting her?

when she spent 15 minutes trying to cut her turkey with her non-iv'd hand?  I used the fork. She used the knife.  We were quite the pair.

I remember. And I hope I always will.

You will my dear friend. You have an amazing heart and have a strong heart full of compassion and empathy...which are 2 things you cannot teach! Remember her...there are times when patients touch you in ways you never thought possible. You will always remember her...trust me! You will carry her with you!
P.S. I really don't think you are nurse ratchet! =)
