DISCLAIMER: this is long
People always ask me about how Chris and I ended up together. And really, It wasn't one particular instance that spiraled us in to this friggin schweet marriage. Listen, if you must, to the timeline of two lovers.
It all started on March 6, 2006. Chris had flown in to try out for Lee University's soccer team. And one night, while I was peacefully snoozing away on Jason Coleman's living room couch, an English tyrant, unknowingly, sat on me. Was it love at first sight? Absolutely not. But you try waking up someone in the middle of the night by blunt force to the abdomen and then expect them to melt into your romantic arms. Yeaa.. no.
And since Sir Hennessey was under my love spell (I'd like to think, but really he had completely forgotten about me), he decided he just had to uproot his UK life and move to Cleveland, TN.
Fastforward to August 5, 2006, and Chris had been in the US for (count it) 2 days. His new roommate Stanley, the predator, wanted to borrow some DVDs and said he was bringing someone with him. I looked absolutely terrible, so terrible that I still remember what I wearing that day. I had just gotten out of the shower and threw on army green gauchos and a massive Mizzou t-shirt. When Chris walked in I panicked (I was also blind-sided by good looks and a charming accent so I didn't make the you-sat-on-me-you-jerk connection); I wasn't expecting a cute guy! I decided to cut and run, so I pointed to the DVD collection and sprinted upstairs to tell Jenn and Shannon that, "the hot English guy was downstairs and I look like gutter trash." Then they proceeded to take turns going downstairs to research my claim.
[Cue Gavin DeGraw's "Follow Through" .... Oh, this is the start of something good, don't you agree...]
During summer '06 I was watching my friends' 8 month old son, Shea, during the morning while they worked. Who moved in next door to them? Well, Mr. Hennessey of course. So every morning Shea and I would play outside on a blanket and chat with Chris as he left for/returned from his 3-a-day practices. (I may or may not have paid particular attention to how I looked these days). One of these days, it came up that I would be turning 19 that week. Chris insisted that they have a mini birthday party at his apartment. {eek-- I think this boy likes me!}
August 16th, 2006 we had my birthday party, where Chris fabricated a clever plan to get my phone number. I'll spare him the embarressment by not posting how gay his pick-up line was. Although, his accent did make everything cuter. (I can admit that now, but NEVER would have at the time)
August 18th-20th, 2006 I was watching Ian (2-years-old at the time) for the weekend. Chris texted me all weekend about when we could hang out. I was wearing baggy sweatpants and smelled like toddler, but he insisted that I come over.
August 20, 2006. First unofficial date (aka first time hanging out alone). He picked "Romeo Must Die." Seriously... and I still married him.

August 27, 2006. DTR-- you know, define. the. relationship. Big step for this never-been-boyfriended 19 year old.
August 2006 through November 2006 were spent falling in love. fast. Who said the L-word first? I'll never tell... it was Chris shhhh
During Fall Break of October 2006, I was talking to Savannah on the phone, when she asked, "So, is he the one?" Oh my gooodness. Yes. Should I tell her. No. It's too soon to say it out loud. I'll jinx it. She'll think I'm crazy. I am crazy. "Yes." Giddy.
Christmas break 2006 he went back to England for the holidays. In the Atlanta airport, in front of Edys Icecream stand, I told Mr. Hennessey that I loved him.
April 2007 Chris and I made the trek to Branson to meet the parents. He felt like part of the family the second he got there. Funny story: my dad slept on the couch practically blocking my bedroom door because "he didn't want any funny business"
June and July 2007 Chris went home for the summer and I went to Chile to study abroad. Don't tell anyone but I pretty much spent 5 weeks in Chile planning our St. Lucian destination wedding. No we weren't engaged yet. Don't judge me.
August 2007 We had our one year anniversary at the BHB. Chris asked my parents if he could marry me, and they said, "no way." [jk--wanted to make sure you were still paying attention]. They said, "of course!"
On a chilly Tennessee night on October 15, 2007, Chris (with the help of many special people) littered my front porch with flowers and candles that said, "Marry Me?"

And on May 11, 2008, we made it official ya'll--for better or worse and all that jazz! We tied the knot out of doors in Branson, MO.
And that, my friends, is an entirely too detailed version of our love saga's humble beginning. If you made it all the way to bottom (hi mom!) then I commend you. If you abandoned ship half way through, I make no judgement. Au Revoir!
