If you haven't been to Maine, you probably don't understand the significance of a whoopie pie. It's like the bees knees up here (yeah, I just said the bees knees). And every time I've tried one, I haven't liked it. I lament that terribly, since I would like to show some sort of Maynard pride. So, since Chris was out of town, and it was a particularly dark and cold night, I decided to make pumpkin whoopie pies with cream cheese icing.
It was a disastrous and messy process; i also spent 54 dollars on ingredients...shhh don't tell Chris. At least I have a spice rack full of nutmeg, ginger, ground cloves, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice now. And although I struggled with the recipe, the end result looked lovely.
Unfortunately, I still don't really like the way they taste. They are just too rich, which is shocking coming from a recovering sugar-a-holic. At least the neighbor-friends loved them, and I'll take the rest to work tomorrow and maybe make new friends. Sugar bribery, I'm not above it.
At least whoopie pies make Cooper happy.
Oh please, oh please!
I'll never pee on the carpet again, I swear!
Confession: I watched Sex and the City 2 while baking these. It. was. terrible. I didn't have high expectations to begin with, but seriously. Awful.
