The Acura went into the shop on Monday. She'll need $900 worth of repairs in order to pass inspection. But, she'll be prepped for winter and in great shape! We are taking donations though... [kidding]; that's what the savings account is for.
Chris was out of town last night. It's so weird when he's gone. Sleep is pretty much impossible. So Cooper [the dog] and I spent 4 hours cleaning the baseboards, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, etc. We also watched Baby Mama, in HD, twice, because I was too lazy to change the channel. Don't you dare judge me. Anyway, the apartment is sparkling. And the babe gets back at 1:30pm today, so all is good in the world of Hennessey.
I'm guilty of not stretching post workout/ever. Which is pretty bad, especially while I was training for marathon. For the most part I'm blessed with still being relatively flexible, but all the training was catching up with me. So the week before the race I took my first yoga class. I'm not necessarily new to yoga. I've done the p90x 90-minute tape a few times, and those are some challenging moves.
But taking the class was so different. I had an instructor there to correct my stance and posture. I had the accountability of a group setting. The music was soothing and the instructor was very positive and calming. My misconceptions about yoga were that it was a little kooky, it was not a good workout, and it was mostly relaxation.
Well, I was wrong. While it might be sliggghtly kooky (I might have giggled while trying to visualize a flower in my hand), but that was only 1 time in 90 minutes. Well, I also about died laughing when the 60 year old man next to me told me "it's okay to fart in yoga" [haha awesome]. I guess it's up to personal preference how you take the instructor's wording, but for the most part I found it relaxing and/or uplifting. It was nice to rid my body of negativity, and at one point we were encouraged to reflect, pray, or send positive thoughts to someone, which I liked. I'll leave it at that, because like I said, it's personal, and I'm a beast that doesn't discuss things like feelings.
And as far as it not being a good workout, tell that to my poor muscles that shook through every pose and were ridiculously sore for the next few days. [awesome] My abs hurt in places that sit ups never get to. [awesome] And, my body feels less tight, abused, uncomfortable at work now. [awesome]
And while I wouldn't count on yoga as my sole source of exercise, I'm definitely loving it as a once weekly addition to my workout program. So, yoga, I will be back, every Tuesday, to get my strength on. (or at least to pass gas with Gordon the hippi, [awesome])!!!
